Lots of points to attach and strap to which is why I ordered this. The over all metal rack seems ok. I have not load tested it yet.
Welds are holding so far. Welds are lumpy and in areas look hastily done. Looks like surface and not deep penetration welds.
I live in WA. Lots of rain. WA does not salt their roads. They use a liquid de-icer. I am mentioning this for a reason.
Installed Aug 8 2022. After the new year I noticed rust was forming in all the pillars where the welds are. Many of the cut outs have rust inside the cutout where the thin powder coat didn't get to. Rust has penetrated through the powder coat on the sides. The part numbers that were cut into the pieces are also heavily rusted. Been dealing with TB trying to get a resolution for the issue. WARNING to anyone wanting to purchase this rack: do not pay the 200$ extra for powder coating. Get it bare metal and take it to a reputable shop to have it professionally done. There is a reason it's only 200$. You get what you pay for.
The shops I have taken it to for quotes to sandblast, primer and powder coat it have told me that the pillars make it difficult to properly coat. I have had shops refuse the job because of the pillars. The shops who said they would do it have quoted high because of the difficulty with the pillars.
Another issue is that the warranty that CBI offers does NOT cover the powder coat.
I waited to do a review after winter to see how the rack held up. It didn't even make it 6 months before it was rusting. Very disappointed.
Have a powder coat shop on board before purchasing if you are in a wet part of the country. Or buy aluminum. That's the best advice I have for people in the PNW.
