Limitations & Problems
74Weld's Proposal
Stock suspension + 37" tires: Minimal trimming, no firewall cutting
Zero other modifications: No cutting fender wells or major bodywork
Maintains factory drivetrain: 22% gear reduction compensates perfectly
First Tacoma on 39s with stock suspension: "Nobody else is doing that"
Strategic trimming only: Some firewall work but totally achievable
Monster truck capability: Transformed appearance and performance
The Science: 22% larger tire + 22% gear reduction = factory performance maintained
Example: 3.91 gears × 1.22 = 4.77 effective final ratio
Drivetrain doesn't know: Transmission sees same load as smaller tires
Can still "bake them off": Full power delivery maintained
Portal axles provide the lift, re-gear, and ground clearance of multiple upgrades in one bolt-on solution.
